Kaunas University of Technology are a world leading research centre for smart materials particularly in the area of piezo-electric materials and electro-rheological fluids. Kaunas have over 40 years of experience in this field and during the Soviet era much innovation took place but in the closed environment this was not available for use in the commercial world. Coming from this unique technological base Kaunas has a significant research input to make in the development of the cell actuator technology.
